Install Hosaka Studio
One command installs Hosaka Studio on Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, and derivatives.
Install with one command
Automatically detects your distribution and sets up the native package repository.
curl -fsSL https://hosaka.studio/install.sh | bash
What does this command do?
The install script detects your distribution and performs the appropriate steps:
On Debian/Ubuntu:
- Downloads our GPG signing key to
/usr/share/keyrings/ - Adds the Hosaka Studio apt repository
- Runs
apt updateand installshosaka-studio
On Fedora:
- Imports the GPG signing key via
rpm --import - Adds the Hosaka Studio dnf repository
- Installs the
hosaka-studiopackage via dnf
On Arch Linux:
- Imports the GPG signing key via
pacman-key - Appends the
[hosaka]repository block to/etc/pacman.conf - Runs
pacman -Sy hosaka-studio
Preview with: curl -fsSL https://hosaka.studio/install.sh | bash -s -- --dry-run
Not on a supported distro? Install via Flatpak instead
Prefer to run each step manually?
These are the same commands the install script runs. Use this as a reference or if you want more control.
curl -fsSL https://apt.hosaka.studio/gpg-key.asc | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /usr/share/keyrings/hosaka-studio.gpg
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/hosaka-studio.gpg] https://apt.hosaka.studio stable-bookworm main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hosaka-studio.list
sudo apt update && sudo apt install hosaka-studio
Troubleshooting
If recording, playback or export misbehaves, run the built-in diagnostics. They check your GPU, drivers, FFmpeg and OpenGL without opening a window, and save a copy of the report next to the Hosaka log:
hosaka --doctor
On Flatpak, use flatpak run com.hosaka.studio --doctor. Attach the saved report (its path is printed at the end) when you email [email protected] about a problem.
Uninstall
To completely remove Hosaka Studio and the apt repository:
sudo apt remove hosaka-studio && sudo rm /usr/share/keyrings/hosaka-studio.gpg /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hosaka-studio.list
Flatpak
Works on any Linux distribution with Flatpak support. Use this if your distro isn't listed above.
