Overview

Hosaka Studio is a desktop application that runs entirely on your computer. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

Data Collection

The Hosaka Studio desktop application does not collect analytics or track your activity. All recordings, settings, and project data remain on your local device unless you explicitly choose to upload content using one of the optional integrations described below.

  • We do not collect usage analytics within the app
  • We do not track your activity
  • We do not access your recordings
  • We do not require account creation

Local Storage

The application stores configuration settings locally on your device. This includes:

  • Recording preferences (resolution, format, etc.)
  • Webcam and audio device selections
  • Window positions and UI preferences

This data never leaves your computer and can be deleted by uninstalling the application.

Data Security

Hosaka Studio employs the following measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit - all communication with third-party services (YouTube, S3-compatible storage) is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
  • Secure credential storage - OAuth tokens and API credentials are stored securely on your local device with restricted file permissions, not on any external server
  • No server-side storage - no user data or credentials are transmitted to or stored on Hosaka servers; everything remains on your device
  • Minimal data collection - the app requests only the minimum OAuth scopes required for each integration (e.g., youtube.upload for YouTube)
  • User control - you can revoke access and delete stored credentials at any time via the app's "Disconnect" feature

Third-Party Services

YouTube / Google (optional)

Hosaka Studio can optionally connect to YouTube via the YouTube Data API v3 using the youtube.upload scope.

Data Accessed

  • Hosaka Studio requests only the youtube.upload scope
  • This allows uploading video files to YouTube on your behalf
  • No other Google user data is accessed (no profile info, email, contacts, Drive files, or browsing data)

Data Usage

  • Video files you select are transmitted directly from your device to YouTube over HTTPS
  • OAuth2 tokens are used solely to authenticate upload requests
  • No Google user data is used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than the upload you initiated
  • Google user data is not sold or shared with third parties

Data Retention & Deletion

  • The only Google user data Hosaka Studio stores is OAuth2 tokens (access and refresh), kept locally on your device with restricted file permissions - not on any external server
  • Tokens are retained only for as long as you keep YouTube connected in the app; no other Google user data is stored or retained
  • You can delete your stored credentials at any time by clicking "Disconnect" in the app, which revokes the token with Google and removes it from your device

Hosaka Studio's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cloud Storage (optional)

Hosaka Studio can upload recordings to Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3, or any S3-compatible storage. You provide your own credentials, which are stored locally. Files are transmitted directly to the storage provider over HTTPS.

Plausible Analytics (website only)

This website (hosaka.studio) uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service. Plausible does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR.

Website

This website (hosaka.studio) is a static site hosted on Netlify. We do not use tracking cookies. Standard server logs may be collected by the hosting provider for security and performance purposes.
